Exemplars and initiatives

‘Exemplars and initiatives’ showcase just some of the effective teaching and learning strategies Deakin academic and professional staff have developed to give all of their students an equivalent opportunity for academic success. These have been produced with funding from the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program, as part of Equity and Diversity’s Inclusive Education (ICCB) project.

All project partners have focused first on ways to better meet the needs of students from low socio-economic status (LSES) backgrounds, but in doing so, have usually found that all of their students have benefited. Some exemplars and initiatives are small, some are large and long-term. All have been evaluated as part of the Inclusive Education project and found to have made a positive difference to outcomes for students (LSES in particular), or to the capacity of Deakin staff to teach inclusively.
