It’s now even easier to check in when you’re on campus
As we amp up our on-campus activity for Trimester 2/Semester 2 (T2/S2), the check-in process has changed, making it quicker and easier for you to follow our COVIDSafe requirements.
We’re now using the Service Victoria QR codes, in line with new guidelines for all universities, TAFEs and learning providers. You’ll already be familiar with this check-in process, which is being used across Victoria at everyday locations like shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
How to check in
The QR code signs will look like this one (click on the image to enlarge).
It’s simple and quick to check in. Just open your camera and focus it on the Service Victoria QR code. Then follow the prompts and look for the green tick, which means you’ve successfully checked in.
If you have the Service Victoria app on your phone, you can also open it and follow the regular check-in process.
Either way, your details will be saved, so you won’t have to re‑enter them each time you check in.
If you don’t have your phone on you, or can’t check in for some other reason, all you need to do is visit a check-in kiosk when you arrive, which you’ll find at each on-campus Deakin Security office. Just give the friendly staff member your name, contact number and building locations, and they’ll do the rest!
Making check-in simpler
This new system means you won’t have to check in as often. You now only need to check in to each building and level you visit – for example, Building DD, Level 2 – rather than any specific learning spaces or lecture theatres. However, if you move to a different level within a building, you’ll need to check in again to that level – for example, Building DD, Level 3.
We’re also working to provide multiple QR codes for busy spaces, so a number of people can check in at the same time rather than having to queue.
Remember to be COVIDSafe on campus
To protect the Deakin community, when visiting campus you must:
- Carry a mask at all times, wear your mask indoors and wear it outdoors if you can’t stay at least 1.5 metres away from others.
- Self-check and stay home if you’re unwell – use the Symptom Checker testing and quarantine guidance.
- Complete Deakin’s COVIDSafe module before attending a campus for the first time.
- Maintain good hand hygiene and use the hand sanitiser available.

We look forward to seeing you on campus in T2/S2!
