Restrictions are easing in regional Victoria – but continue to study from home if you can
With no community transmission in regional Victoria this week, regional restrictions are proposed to ease from 11.59pm tonight, Thursday 3 June.
Despite the relaxed restrictions, our Geelong and Warrnambool campuses are subject to a 50 percent space capacity limit, so we are encouraging students to continue study from home, if possible.
If you do need to attend campus, you must:
- wear your face mask indoors, and outdoors where 1.5 metre physical distancing cannot be maintained
- adhere to all COVIDSafe practices, including checking in via the COVIDSafe QR codes
- self-check and stay home if you’re unwell – use the Symptom Checker testing and quarantine guidance
- complete Deakin’s COVIDSafe module before attending campus for the first time
- maintain good hand hygiene and use the hand sanitiser available.
You can book your place in advance if you’re attending a campus to study.
Travel around regional Victoria is allowed, but travel into and through metropolitan Melbourne is not allowed, unless you have a permitted reason. If you’re required to travel to Melbourne, you must adhere to metropolitan Melbourne restrictions while you’re there.
The implications for Deakin’s regional campuses are outlined below.
Teaching and learning activities
Scheduled on-campus activities can proceed, including exams scheduled for the week commencing Monday 7 June. Please note the 50 percent space capacity limit is for non-teaching, non-exam activities.
Approved student health and medical placements will continue where partner institutions remain open and will be managed directly by the schools. Work integrated learning will shift to online or be postponed. Students impacted will be directly contacted through your unit site or by a Work Integrated Learning Coordinator.
Trimester 2 teaching and learning planning is continuing. Read more about what your T2/S2 learning experience will be, subject to government restrictions. The STAR provisional timetable will be available on Monday 14 June and open for preference entry mode at 10am on Monday 21 June.

- Access a range of mental health resources in the eWellbeing Hub.
- If you feel unsafe in your home, or COVID-19 restrictions mean that your personal situation could become dangerous or unsustainable, Safer Community is here to support you. This includes assisting you with a safety plan if appropriate or providing advice. All assistance is confidential.
