Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow


This is an exciting chance to join Deakin University. CRADLE are looking for a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to help us with our cutting-edge research.

What does CRADLE do?

CRADLE conducts research in the area of assessment and digital learning and collaborates with Deakin Learning Futures, Deakin faculties, and with a range of national and international industry partners and educational institutions.

CRADLE is an Australian and international research leader on assessment in higher education in an increasingly digitally connected world. Our team consists of academics with wide-ranging research interests and expertise across assessment and related areas. We have three broad themes of research.

What does the role involve?

Depending on the candidate, the role will involve the following:

Research Fellow

  • Produce high quality publications and work on external competitive grants, and participate in dissemination activities at national and global levels.
  • Contribute to specific Deakin University strategic projects related to CRADLE’s research program.
  • Contribute, as part of a team, to providing operational and practical advice on areas associated with assessment and digital learning to the Co-Directors, CRADLE and to senior staff within the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Portfolio.

Senior Research Fellow

  • Produce high quality publications and work on external competitive grants, and participate in dissemination activities at national and global levels.
  • Provide intellectual leadership and scholarship in recognised areas of eminence, including as a public intellectual, leading internationally recognised research, high quality publications and external competitive grants, and representing world recognised research through dissemination activities at national and global levels.
  • Contribute to specific Deakin University strategic projects related to CRADLE’s research program.
  • Provide operational and practical advice on areas associated with assessment and digital learning to the Co-Directors, CRADLE and to senior staff within the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Portfolio.
  • Lead teams in research which enhance the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals in research, teaching, engagement and innovation.

What do I need to have?

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • A reputation appropriate to level underpinned by quality publications and other markers of academic achievement.
  • Evidence of expertise aligned with CRADLE’s research themes.
  • Positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline and ability to contribute to communities through research.
  • A proven ability to establish good working relationships and collaborate with others.
