March with Deakin in the 2023 Pako Festa Parade!
Do you want to represent Deakin at Australia’s largest free multicultural event, and celebrate ethnic diversity, acceptance and harmony?
The annual Pako Festa, held in Geelong West’s iconic Pakington Street, is a carnival of delicious cultural food, traditional dancing, music, activities, entertainment and fun. First held in 1983, Pako Festa events have attracted more than 100,000 spectators in pre-COVID years and feature hundreds of performers bringing the street alive.
The highlight of this iconic street party is the Pako Festa Parade in which cultural groups, performers, schools, businesses and other organisations walk down Pakington Street. As a proud sponsor of Pako Festa, Deakin invites students, staff and alumni to join us in the march!
We encourage you to wear traditional cultural dress that showcases your community – or we can also provide you with a graduation gown or Deakin T-shirt to wear.
Sounds great – count me in!
