Upcoming seminar: Prison as a last resort?
September 4, 2018 | 2:00-3:30pm | Level 2, Building BC, Deakin University Burwood (Geelong IC3.108, VMP 54631)
Peter Norden is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology and an Honorary Fellow in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University. His lecture will outline the tragic state of criminal justice policy and debate throughout Australia at the present time, and the rapid expanse of ‘the penal estate’, strongly supported by private prison interests. Peter presents a 10 step plan to bring about a reduction in the Australian prison population by 5% annually for the next 20 years.
