Scottish policing: has there been real reform?
Deakin criminologist Dr Diarmaid Harkin has contributed to the June 2015 issue of Scottish Justice Matters.
Diarmaid’s commentary piece, ‘Scottish policing: has there been real reform‘, examines whether the centralisation of Scotland’s forces into one national force should be considered a reform or not. The piece considers how on-the-ground local policing has changed following the introduction of reform of policing in Scotland and indeed whether some aspects of policing can be reformed.
The piece is part of a themed issue edited by Professor Nick Fyfe and Dr Alistair Henry on broadening and deepening the debate about police reform in Scotland.
