Podcast: “Bid to stamp out uni cheat industry” on ABC Radio Focus

Last week I spoke with Universities Australia CEO Catriona Jackson on the ABC Perth radio program Focus with Jessica Strutt. It’s a 45 minute deep dive into contract cheating, proposed anti-cheating laws, and how parents and friends can navigate the line between helping and cheating.

ABC synopsis:

Cheating in our universities has always happened but now it’s a lot more sophisticated.

There’s a whole “contract cheating” industry out there preying on students.

The Federal Government is proposing a crackdown, including new laws to stamp out those who provide or advertise services offering to complete assignments or exams for a fee.

Some universities are concerned the laws are too broad and will capture parents and friends who proofread and make minor changes to students’ assignments.
