Tesla being charged at Waurn Ponds EV charging station

13 June 2023

You can now recharge your electric vehicle at Waurn Ponds

As part of Deakin’s commitment to sustainability and creating a Climate Ready Campus, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have now been installed at our Waurn Ponds Campus.

The new 22Kw charging stations, located at the southern end of Car Park 1, can charge up to four vehicles simultaneously and are fitted with Type 2 charging sockets. Currently, one station has cables installed for your use, and the other station is available for you to use your own cable.

Our EV charger usage policy is currently being developed as we expand our EV charging network across all campuses. But, for now, charging is free and no parking permit is required for EVs parked in the designated EV spaces. That being said, please play fair and be mindful of your fellow EV users – think of these as top-up stations rather than an all-day affair.

How these new EV chargers work

Those of you who are familiar with using our Burwood EV chargers will feel right at home, but for all you newbies, here are some instructions to assist you in using Deakin’s charging stations:

These EV Charging stations are one small way we are embedding sustainability into Deakin’s culture and future.

If you have any questions or are having trouble using the EV chargers, please email the Parking team at [email protected].
