International students, join this program to feel more connected to your Deakin community
Our international students are such an important part of the Deakin family and we’re so excited to be able to welcome you back in growing numbers this year.
Whether you’re settling into life in Australia, you’ve returned after an absence or you’re studying from overseas, we want you to feel like you belong at Deakin. A positive mindset will help you to succeed at your studies but will also ensure that you enjoy your university experience – and that’s just as important!
That’s why we encourage you to sign up for our free 10-week Connect. Engage. Thrive program, which is all about nurturing your wellbeing. You’ll build healthy habits and start to thrive at Deakin by meeting students from a range of backgrounds, having fun, learning about Australian culture and feeling your best.
How it works
The program gives you the chance to take part in any or all of the following activities:
- have a free health check with a friendly Bupa nurse (the first 150 students to sign up will also receive a Study Melbourne Pack valued at $150!)
- explore our fitness centres and online classes with a free DeakinACTIVE one-month membership
- discover new sports in our dedicated Deakin Come & Try Sports sessions
- meet new friends and have a laugh in our social sport program
- work up a sweat in some group fitness sessions
- learn some new ways to cope with uni, nurture yourself and build resilience in our health and wellbeing workshops – these will cover everything from food and nutrition and sleep to understanding the Australian healthcare system and personal safety.
The more activities you do, the more people you’ll meet and the more you’ll learn about how to stay motivated, in control and balanced while you study. You’ll also receive a weekly newsletter full of tips, news and resources, as well as a health and wellbeing pack at the end of the program.
Most of these activities will also be available online, so even if you’re not currently in Australia you can still participate and build connections with other students.
What are you waiting for? Strengthen your sense of belonging at Deakin and discover how to connect, engage and thrive in Trimester 1! Register now.
