Group of three international students at a study space

3 March 2022

Start T1 the right way with a free health check – and you could win $100!

Are you keen to do your best at uni? Being fit and healthy is an absolute must if you’re going to succeed in your studies – and we’re here to help!

We encourage you to take advantage of our on-campus health checks. They’re available to all international students, regardless of which provider you’re with for your Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) and whether you’re a new or a continuing student. Oh, and they’re totally free!

How it works

You’ll visit one of our Deakin Health and Wellbeing Centres for your health check, which takes just 30 minutes and gives you a quick snapshot of your overall health.

Your consultation will be with a friendly and qualified Bupa nurse. You’ll have a glucose and blood pressure check, and discuss your health and wellbeing. You’ll also receive a personal results booklet that includes health information and advice specific to your gender and age group.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve had a health check before – we encourage you to book in for another one. That way, you’ll see how you’re progressing or be able to follow up on any issues.

Free appointments are available throughout Trimester 1:

Places will fill up fast, so don’t delay!

You could also win $100!

All students who attend a T1 health check will go into the draw to win a $100 Rebel Sport voucher! We’re giving away one each month – just fill in the competition form after your consultation.

You should also check out Bupa’s International Community webpage for some great shared stories, resources and advice.

Staying COVIDSafe on campus

COVIDSafe measures are in place on campus, so please follow all staff instructions during your appointment. Anyone visiting the HWB Centre must wear a face mask.

Remember: if on the day of your appointment you’re not feeling well, you’ve been tested for COVID-19 or you’ve been in contact with a suspected or confirmed case, please do NOT attend. Instead, call the dedicated 24-hour hotline on 1800 675 398 or visit the Victorian Government coronavirus website for information on what to do next.
