Deakin Criminologist, Dr Clare Farmer, has published an article in the Journal of Criminological Research, Policy and Practice as part of a special edition that explores vulnerability and the criminal justice system:
‘Victoria’s banning notice provisions: parliamentary, procedural and individual vulnerabilities’
The paper examines the enactment, implementation and use of discretionary police powers to ban people from public areas. The findings highlight key issues with parliamentary procedures and compliance with Victoria’s human rights charter, and the paper explores the particular effect of the banning provisions upon vulnerable recipients.
