ADI Lunchtime Seminar – Iranian Women Building Peace at Home and Abroad: Utilising Foresight for Peacebuilding in the Diaspora

Please join us on Wednesday 3 July for our next ADI Lunchtime Seminar: Iranian Women Building Peace at Home and Abroad: Utilising Foresight for Peacebuilding in the Diaspora.

Abstract

The literature on peacebuilding from diaspora communities rarely considers a gender perspective and the visions for peace created in connection between home and diasporic communities. This seminar shares my research journey of using foresight as a tool of visioning in order to gather visions of the future of Iran together with the young Iranian women from the diaspora in Australia and young Iranian women with the desire to make change at home. We will delve into the importance of using foresight as tool for qualitative research, especially in the sphere of social sciences and we will explore the gendered dimensions of peacebuilding at home and abroad in Iran’s case. This research has been conducted as part of the Women PeaceMakers Fellowship organised by the Kroc School for Peace and Justice, University of San Diego.
