Get to know your Library during Orientation
If you’re just starting your studies with Deakin, welcome to your first study period! And if you’ve already commenced your degree but this is your first chance to spend time on campus, we look forward to meeting you!
No matter where you are studying, there are loads of ways you can get to know your Library in your first few weeks at uni.
Commencing student training sessions: Explore your library
The Library is running online ‘Explore your Library’ sessions to help new students understand the resources, services and facilities available to them through Deakin Library. These sessions will take place on:
- Thursday 20 February, 10–11am
- Thursday 20 February, 4–5pm
- Tuesday 25 February, 11am–12pm
- Wednesday 26 February, 1–2pm
In this online session, you will learn all you need to know about how the Library helps you succeed at Deakin. Our programs, services and activities save you time, provide critical information and enable you to be more effective in your learning and research.
Your Library offers a range of services, including live Library Chat, to ensure study from home is just as easy. Discover the best way to approach your studies by joining us for this Library session.
At the end of this session, students will have knowledge and skills to:
- navigate key parts of the Library website
- search for digital and print resources
- borrow, return and request items
- access course materials and subject-specific guides.

Get help with your tech set up
Deakin Library’s Student TechAssist service offers students in their first few weeks at Deakin a chance to get one-on-one assistance with their technical setup and related queries. This is an on-demand student-led service at the Library service desk.
Our Student TechAssist team can help with:
- CloudDeakin/D2L setup
- multi-factor authentication
- wi-fi/Eduroam login
- printing queries
- basic Microsoft support.
TechAssist will be available during OWeek, Week 1 and Week 2 from 10am-5pm Monday – Friday
Look for the Student TechAssist banner at your campus Library service desk. Our team of friendly Deakin students will be wearing grey aprons and blue lanyards, with tablets and laptops at the ready to help you out! No appointment needed.
Need a study buddy?
Make the most of your time at Deakin with Library Study, Snacks and Chats – a weekly meet-up in your Library to learn study tips, meet other students and discover something new about life at Deakin in each session.
Library Study, Snacks and Chats runs at Burwood, Waurn Ponds and Waterfront each Tuesday at 2pm starting in Week 2. At Warrnambool, it runs on Wednesday 12 March and 26 March at 12.30pm.
Get ready to:
- meet fellow students in the Library
- discover what services are available to students at Deakin
- learn study tips from experts
- enjoy free snacks.
No booking needed. Come along for some food, drinks and conversation.

To get started, find the QR code poster in the Library and follow the clues to the end. There are five QR codes in total to scan.

Join us for a tour
Each campus Library is unique – full of group study spaces, comfy seats and powered desks, computers, printers and scanners, book collections and much more. Guided tours of your campus Library are also available on demand – just speak to staff at the service desk. These tours are a great way for you to get to know the spaces in your Library, as well as ask any questions you might have.
