Undergrads, get discounted public transport in Victoria!

Do you take public transport to study on campus? If you’re a full-time undergraduate student, you could be eligible for a discount! Find out how below.

Domestic undergraduate

Having a concession card and using a Concession myki fare will give you a 50% discount on traveling with public transport.

To be eligible, you need to be a full-time on-campus domestic undergrad student and have one of the following.

How to apply

  1. Complete the Check eligibility for transport concession form
  2. If you are eligible, select ‘Send me the application form’ to have it sent to your Deakin email inbox.
  3. From there, you should print out the form in colour, sign and date it.
  4. Take it to your nearest participating Public Transport Office for processing. Visit the PTV website for locations and hours of operation.
  5. Remember to always carry your concession card and myki while traveling on public transport.

Deakin students are issued concession cards for the calendar year in which you are enrolled. If the Student Travel Concession system says you are ineligible for a concession card or you are given a six-month concession card you may be enrolled incorrectly, or are enrolled as a part-time student for part of the year. If you believe you are entitled to a concession card for the full calendar year, please contact Student Central.

Domestic postgraduate or part-time students

Postgraduate and part-time students aren’t eligible for student concession fares. However you may still be eligible for a Concession myki if you have a Health Care Card or another concession entitlement. Find out more about concession and free travel

International undergraduate

Save 50% on public transport across Victoria with the International Student Travel Pass. Choose from a discounted statewide, Zone 2-only or regional zone myki pass that gives you unlimited travel on buses, trams, and metropolitan and V/Line trains for 90, 180 or 365 days. Find out more about Victorian metropolitan and regional travel zones.

To be eligible, you must be an international student who is enrolled in an on-campus full-time undergraduate course at Deakin. New Zealand students are eligible, but domestic students, international exchange students, students with refugee status, Australia Award scholarship-holders and postgraduate students are not eligible for this pass.

You can buy the pass at any time – it will be valid from the time you first touch on your myki.

How to apply

  1. Complete our online form – you’ll need your student ID number and Deakin email.
  2. Check your Deakin email for your International Student Travel Pass code. This may take up to three business days to arrive.
  3. Visit the International Student Travel Pass website to register your details and buy your pass. You’ll need to provide a passport-style photo.
