We’re thrilled to welcome you to Deakin! While starting university is an exciting time, we know that adjusting to the new routine can feel a little daunting at first. We run a number of sessions leading up to and over the first few weeks of the study period to help guide your transition to Deakin. We suggest attending any of the following sessions relevant to you.
Online Student Essentials
If you’re an online student, join this session to learn about the online learning environment, how to manage your time, stay motivated, balance your life and study, access support when you need it and meet and talk to other online students and teaching staff.

Explore Mentoring at Deakin
Deakin has peer mentors – experienced students who understand what uni life is like firsthand – to help you make a great start to your studies with a range of programs. Beyond your orientation, you can also rely on the support of specialised peer mentors who are available to help you find answers for your queries, understand your subjects and improve your academic skills.
This interactive online session will give you the opportunity to meet some of Deakin’s peer mentors and have your questions answered.
Our mentors will discuss their experiences studying at Deakin and the support they can provide you through our mentoring programs. Learn what it’s like to be a mentee and mentor and find out more about how you can connect with other students and access support when you need it.
