Postgrad students, do a masters unit in Canada this trimester break!

Keen to avoid the Australian winter? Here’s an incredible opportunity to enjoy a summer in stunning Vancouver Island, Canada, and earn credits towards your postgraduate degree at the same time.

Summer Graduate Business Studies (SGBS) is a four-week intensive program through the University of Victoria’s award-winning Gustavson School of Business. Specifically targeted at international masters students, the program focuses on areas of cross-cultural management, global strategy and social entrepreneurship.

In your spare time, you’ll even be able to go whale-watching or kayaking, or watch some local sport!

How it works

Postgraduate students from all faculties are eligible – you just need a minimum WAM of 60.

This is a Study abroad program, which means you pay your fees directly to the program provider rather than to Deakin. Your program fee includes:

You’ll have to pay for flights, visa/travel costs, meals and personal expenses.

You can take up to three modules:

Module 1: Cross-cultural Management
Approved for level 7 Management elective, one credit point.
19–27 June 2023

Understand the complexity and dynamics of doing business across national borders. Cross-cultural management is quite a challenge because of cultural differences that affect business and management practices.

Module 2: Global Strategy
Approved for MPM703 OR level 7 elective, one credit point.
28 June – 5 July 2023

Today’s environment forces business enterprises to increasingly cross national borders and, more generally, engage in business activities in numerous countries that are often very different from each other. Gain the skills, knowledge and sensitivity required to create, maintain, and renew sustainable competitive advantage within a global environment.

Module 3: Social Entrepreneurship
Approved for level 7 Management elective, one credit point.
6–13 July 2023

Social entrepreneurship is a rapidly developing field where government, business and civil society cross boundaries, and where entrepreneurs help solve social and environmental challenges otherwise ignored or missed by the business community and often addressed (but not always successfully) by the not-for-profit sector.

Applications close on Sunday 30 April, so find out more and apply now.
