If you’re passionate about promoting healthy habits and shining a light on both physical and mental health – and you’re enthusiastic, approachable, motivated and reliable – then apply to become a Wellbeing Ambassador in Trimester 1, 2023!
It’s a great way to build your leadership and communication skills, make friends and share your knowledge of Deakin with other students.
What a Wellbeing Ambassador does
You’ll help to promote our health and wellbeing programs and services to students, as well as plan, design and deliver new health promotion activities at Deakin. You’ll take part in related events and be a friendly and approachable advocate for Deakin’s messaging on student wellbeing – encompassing mental wellbeing, physical health, nutrition, alcohol and other drugs, and sexual health.
Wellbeing Ambassadors benefit from receiving professional development, training and on-the-job experience that looks great on your resume. You’ll make a real difference to the lives of your university peers and you’re guaranteed to make new friends!
Vaishnavi Nimmalagadda shares why she’s a very ‘proud’ Wellbeing Ambassador:
I get to engage with students on a daily basis and help them navigate their student life with ease. The skills I learnt from this role shaped me into a more inclusive, empathetic and welcoming human being.
The Wellbeing Ambassador role is a paid casual position for a minimum of 12 months. To apply, you must:
- have completed a minimum of eight units of study (with at least a credit average) and have at least two trimesters still left to complete
- undergo an employee Working with Children Check and National Police Record Check
- demonstrate an interest in health promotion, prevention and public health.
If you’re successful, you’ll need to complete the Students Helping Students Foundation Training Module before you start.
