What do you think of a ‘community-embedded’ university? Tell us your ideas and we’ll give you a gift voucher!

Universities today are often big organisations with far-reaching global influence and connections. However, what if we re-think what we know about the university model? What if we, rather than aiming for internationalisation, thought about how our universities could have stronger links with our local communities?

Tell us what you think!

We are currently holding a study exploring ideas from stakeholders (including students, staff, and industry and community supervisors) on a community-embedded university. We are seeking participants from diverse backgrounds (including regional and remote students) to participate in a 90-minute co-design workshop where we can all share our point of view.

The workshops will be held on Zoom and, if you participate, you will receive a $45 gift voucher for your time.

All currently enrolled Deakin students over the age of 18 are invited to participate. Your participation is entirely voluntary. During the workshop you will engage in participatory design activities, such as online discussion boards and mind maps, that will help the group discuss the topic of a community-embedded university.

Want to take part?

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this short Expression of Interest form and provide consent. If you are selected for the study, we will ask for your consent again at the beginning of the workshop. You can read more about the study in the Plain Language Statement before providing consent.

This study has received Deakin University ethics approval (reference number: HAE-22-014).

Please contact Lea Piskiewicz via [email protected] or 03 991 89020 for any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
