'A Warning from Harmony' by Milla T.

5 July 2021

Bring NAIDOC Week 2021 to life in an artwork and you could win!

Are you a budding young artist (or do you know one)? Help us celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture as part of this year’s NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Students aged five to 19 from around the country are invited to create an artwork that evokes this year’s NAIDOC Week theme: Heal Country!

The theme calls for all Australians to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration and destruction.

Members of the Deakin community recently gathered to discuss this theme and share inspiring artwork ideas. View the conversation hosted by Kiri Wicks from NIKERI.

How to enter

The winners of each age category (junior, middle and senior) will be judged on their artwork’s quality and story. Winners will be announced in late July and will receive a virtual GiftPay card worth up to $200.

Entries close at 11.59pm on Sunday 25 July, so don’t delay – get your creative juices flowing now or let your arty friends know ASAP!

Got a question about the competition? Just email the Deakin Engagement and Access Program for more information.
