Geelong Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven’s ode to hills and dales, Symphony No.6, the Pastoral.
This much loved symphony paints a bucolic picture drawn from the composer’s much adored Viennese woodlands. Beethoven described the work as “more the expression of feeling than painting.”
The orchestra will begin with an equally descriptive work from English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, The Lark Ascending. A violinist’s dream, this piece perfectly captures the spirit of George Meredith’s poem of a skylark representing all wonders, sights and sounds of nature.
