Please note that this event has expired.
Summer in Australia means swimming, surfing, beach cricket and beach walks! But our stunning beaches and many pools, creeks and other waterways can also be dangerous if you don’t understand the conditions.
If you’re keen to get wet this summer, don’t miss this interactive water safety session from an experienced surf lifesaver, who will explain how:
- to stay safe in the water
- a lifesaver can help if you get into trouble at the beach
- to recognise a rip (a strong and narrow current that can quickly pull you out to sea) and what to do if you’re caught in one.
After the session you’ll head to Eastern Beach Gardens for a tasty light lunch and the chance to chat to other international students – you might even make some new friends to head to the beach with!
When: Thursday 24 November, 10am – 12.30pm
Where: Geelong Waterfront Campus – meet at the DUSA lounge

Spots are limited, so if you can’t make it after registering please cancel your ticket so another student can attend.
