COVID-19 Testing site on Burwood Campus

Deakin will play an important role in the battle against COVID-19 by supporting the Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) with a drive-through testing site, which opens on Wednesday 29 September in Car Park 12, on the Elgar Road side of Burwood Campus. This will be an important location to meet the testing needs of the community around the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The site will be open from 8am–8pm, 7 days a week, until January 2022.

Depending on the testing demand each day, there is likely to be delays and impacts on students and staff who are permitted to access this side of campus and do so by car. Car Park 12 will be closed, to provide space for cars to queue off the road while waiting for their test.

Parking will be available in Car Park 11, including accessible options, however drivers may experience delays. To avoid disruption, we recommend that you avoid entering campus at Uganda Street and instead consider parking in the multi-level car park (CP 6) on the main side of campus and walking across the foot bridge.

DHHS are well-equipped and practiced at managing the risk of COVID-19 transmission at their testing sites, and the Deakin location will be no different – all precautions will be in place to ensure our students, staff and visitors remain safe.

In providing this facility we are playing a critically important role in our local community, and we thank you for your support and understanding.
