NTEU member industrial action from Monday 17 until Friday 21 July
Deakin has received notice that some NTEU (National Tertiary Education Union) members may engage in the following protected industrial action (PIA) commencing at 7am on Monday 17 July and ceasing at 7pm on Friday 21 July 2023:
- A ban on the delivery of teaching commencing at 7am on Monday 17 July and ceasing at 7pm on Friday 21 July.
- A stoppage of work of between five minutes and 24 hours commencing at 12.01am on Thursday 20 July and ceasing at 11.59pm on Thursday 20 July.
At this time, we have not been advised of widespread impact; however, there may be some changes to timetabled teaching activities during this period. If we receive information of this nature, we will inform you as soon as possible via unit sites.
Deakin has, and always will, recognise the right of a team member to choose whether to participate in PIA. Deakin also recognises the NTEU’s right to organise industrial action in furtherance of its bargaining claims for the proposed enterprise agreement.
Importantly, both parties are continuing to bargain and are committed to reaching agreement.
