Mind Matters: From an online exhibition to a digital display
Our latest digital display promotes student artworks from the Mind Matters Student Art Exhibition, sharing the unique mental health and wellbeing journeys of our students.
The student artworks are visually striking and are presented with gallery-style captions including artist details and information about the piece. It’s an exciting opportunity to help the powerful message of the exhibition reach more students, and there is potential for the display to be updated and reused as the exhibition grows. The integration of QR codes into the display bookends provide an access point for library visitors to explore the full exhibition content.
Mind Matters is also one of the first projects launched on the library’s new Deakin Exhibit platform. The digital display plays a dual purpose, as it showcases what Deakin Exhibit can offer – an engaging and accessible way to present research data and findings. Deakin Exhibit allows researchers to share their work with the public, and uses Omeka S, an open-source software widely used in museums, galleries, and libraries worldwide.
The Deakin Exhibit platform is managed by Deakin Library, but researchers can establish their own Deakin Exhibit site to showcase their research.
