How to meet the library during OWeek

We’re less than a week away from the Trimester 3 International Student Welcome and Orientation Week! Your library staff are excited to show you around campus, introduce you to the huge amount of resources available and help you learn to navigate your online library.

Deakin Library offers expert advice on developing research skills and finding information sources for your assignments, quiet places to study and collaborate, access to over a million resources, an online Library Chat service and much more.

Several of our campus libraries allow 24-hour access to all or part of the building, giving you a safe place to study any time of the day or night.

The library will be a key partner in your success while you study at Deakin. Here are three ways to meet your library during OWeek!

Join an online tutorial

The online UniStart: Discover Your Library session will give you the skills you need to:

To join a session, search for ‘Discover Your Library’ on the UniStart website to log in at one of the session times below:

Note: Google Chrome is the preferred browser.

Meet your library in person

We’ll be at the International Student Welcome Community Fair at both Burwood Campus (Monday 4 November) and Waurn Ponds Campus (Tuesday 5 November), answering your questions in the stall and providing tours in the library.

You can also drop in for a five-minute library tour during any of the times below throughout OWeek:

Waurn PondsMonday–Tuesday9.30am–4.30pm

These casual tours are a great way to meet some of the staff at the library, check out the best study spaces and grab a bookmark. Even if your studies will be in the Cloud, if you live near a Deakin campus, you are more than welcome to use any of our libraries and come for a tour.

Meet your library online

Not on campus yet? The Discover your Library video shows you how to navigate your library in your student portal, DeakinSync. You’ll find out how to view library hours, book a study space, search our databases, manage your loans and more.

You can also view this video with Vietnamese subtitles or a Mandarin voice-over.
