Attention new students: come meet the library in OWeek
The Trimester 2 International Student Welcome Week and O-Week is just around the corner! We look forward to meeting all the new students joining us from across the country and around the world.
Deakin Library offers expert advice on developing research skills and finding information sources for your assignments, quiet places to study and collaborate, access to over a million resources, a 24-hour Library Chat service and much more. Several of our campus libraries allow 24-hour access to all or part of the building, giving you a safe place to study any time of the day or night.
The library will be a key partner in your success while you study at Deakin, and there are a lot of opportunities to learn more about us in O-Week.
O-Week tutorials
Attend a live-streamed tutorial about how to navigate the library by joining a UniStart – Discover Your Library session. This 30-minute seminar will give you the skills you need to:
- Search for digital and print resources
- Borrow, return, request and renew items
- Access course materials and subject-specific guides
- Reserve a study space
- Book a computer at Burwood Campus
To join a session, search for ‘Discover Your Library’ on the UniStart website to log in at one of the session times below:
- Monday 1 July, 1pm or 5.30pm
- Tuesday 2 July, 1pm or 5.30pm
- Wednesday 3 July, 1pm or 5.30pm
Meet your library in person
We’ll be at the International Student Welcome Community Fair at both Burwood Campus (Monday 1 July) and Waurn Ponds Campus (Tuesday 2 July), as well as Cloud Campus Welcome Day (Saturday 6 July), answering your questions in the stall and providing tours at the library.
You can also drop in for a tour at any one of our campus libraries between 9.30am and 4.30pm. These casual tours are a great way to meet some of the staff at the library, check out the best study spaces and grab a bookmark. Even if your studies will be in the Cloud, if you live near a Deakin campus, you are more than welcome to use any of our libraries and come for a tour.
