Round table discussion 28 June 7pm:
Discussion will explore memory, place, architectural/art/community collaboration – Dr Mirjana Lozanovska Senior Lecturer Deakin University (Chair); Shibboleth Shechter, Lecturer University of Arts London; and artists Alex Hamilton, Rut Blees Luxembourg and Sarah Duyshart. Shibboleth Shechter, is a senior spatial design Lecturer at Chelsea College of Arts and a University of the Arts London Teaching Scholar. She combines pedagogy, research and practice through in curriculum, live, local, collaborative projects. Rut Blees Luxemburg is an artist whose work explores the representation of the city. Her recent work Silver Forest is a monumental photographic phantasmagoria rendered in concrete for the façade of Westminster City Hall depicting urban forests from Beijing to London. She is a reader in urban aesthetics at the Royal College of Art, London. Sarah Duyshart, an artist based in London is part of the VacantGeelong project. Her sound and drawing practice culminates in large immersive site-responsive architectural interventions, often utilizing vibration. She is currently studying MA Sculpture at the Royal College of Art. Dr Mirjana Lozanovska investigates how architecture mediates human dignity/identity through multidisciplinary design theories of space architectural education and research, including pioneering work on migrant houses. She is Associate Head of School International and Senior Lecturer in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment at Deakin University.
