…let’s clean up together
Bilby last won the Tidy Town award in 2003, and it’s about time we threw out the challenge to other towns again. So let’s take pride in our wonderful community, join one of the working bees and get involved.
What do we win?
Not only is there a framed certificate and official notice on our town’s sign, there’s also a cash incentive. This year the Tidy Town award includes a $2000 bonus to go towards the local event or monument of our choice. Any ideas?
We thought we’d hold a competition if we win!
What do YOU need to do?
It’s simple, come along and help us tidy up. The Shire Council will be having a whole range of working bees at the public parks, and we invite you to join in on the next two Saturdays (program and venues available at the Shire Council offices, or ph Maya Linnet on 53566 55556).
Remember when Bilby was just a small community, the locals got together and constructed all the seats in Anzac Park? That’s the spirit we need now.
We’re planning a giant working bee with our growing population, to tidy up our town. We’ll have Bilby Landcare groups going down the Valley View riverbanks and the wetlands cleaning away rubbish and foreign vegetation, the Historical Society has vowed to tidy up the graveyard and museum area. And Bilby Business Society is looking after the Bilby Mall and surrounds. If you want to join them, contact the following for details:
