Koorie Heritage Trust- What’s on in July

Dear Friends and Supporters

Yes! We are delighted to announce that we are once again open and able to welcome you back to the KHT.

Despite our reopening, we are conscious we have not seen the end of COVID-19, and we need to implement a range of public health measures to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. Unfortunately, we can only welcome 20 visitors at any one time into our building, and ask that you adhere to the 1.5m social distancing rule at all times. We will also be asking you to provide us with your contact details on entry for contact tracing purposes and to freely use the hand sanitiser stations set up around the building. Of course, if you are not feeling well, we encourage you to remain at home and seek medical attention.

While you will be able to see our current temporary exhibition Affirmation, browse through shopKOORIE and visit our permanent collections display on our top floor, our physical public tours and programs will remain temporarily suspended. However, during lock-down, we implemented a range of online activities to keep connected with you, and we encourage you to continue to visit our KHT Online webpage.

We thank you for staying engaged with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the KHT.

From the Board and Staff of the Koorie Heritage Trust.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

Because of COVID-19, the way we work and socialised have changed, including impacting our revenue generating activities. For as little as a $2 tax deductible donation, your support will enable us to evolve, adapt and grow in a post-COVID world; continuing to present our programs and services in new and innovative formats while ensuring we continue to represent, support and engage with our Victorian Aboriginal communities in safe and meaningful ways.

If you are able to support us, no matter how great or small, please visit our SUPPORT US webpage or click the yellow DONATE button at the top right corner of our website.

KHT KIDS’ CLUB

We are pleased to announce the launch of the KHT KIDS’ CLUB. As part of the launch, please join us this week for two very special school holiday virtual workshops for all kids isolating at home.

Tomorrow (Tuesday), Taungurung artist Cassie Leatham will guide children over Zoom in making fun bush characters using simple natural materials found in the garden – leaves, twigs, nuts combined with everyday crafting supplies.

And then on Friday, Wadawurrung artist Deanne Gilson will read to children over Zoom, the Wadawurrung Creation story followed by some guided drawing exercises.  Woven into this, Deanne will teach some Wadawurrung language words to the children. Deanne is also one of the featured artist in our current exhibition, Affirmation.

Both events are free, but bookings are essential.

We acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Viva Energy Australia, Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family, and the Jon Faine Farewell Broadcast Fundraising Appeal
