A/Prof Darren Palmer edited the new book Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Criminology (Palgrave)

Dr Michele Lobo published two articles:

Dr Sarah Hayes has a new article titled Brothels and Sex Workers: Variety, Complexity and Change in Nineteenth-Century Little Lon, Melbourne published with Australian Historical Studies. She also published a piece titled Seeking Urban Metabolisms through Archaeology as part of the CES stream series Decentering Metabolism: Peripheral and Southern Diffractions with Somatosphere.

A/Prof Maurizio Meloni published an article with Dr Michelle Pentecost (King’s College): Pentecost, M., & Meloni, M. (2020). ‘It’s never too early’: preconception care and postgenomic models of life. Frontiers in Sociology, 5, 21.

Papers from the ADI Philosophy and the Far Right and Eurasianism and the Globalisation of the Far Right events, including papers by Deakin figures Dr Maria Rae, Dr Imogen Richards, A/Prof Geoffrey Boucher, and A/Prof Matthew Sharpe have been accepted for publication in a special edition with Tier One journal Thesis Eleven in 2021.  Prof Ron Beiner (Toronto)’s keynote can also be heard on ABC RN Philosopher’s Zone.

Dr Zahid Ahmed was invited to a virtual discussion on 19 April, organised by the Pakistan Australia Association Melbourne in collaboration with the Consulate of Pakistan in Melbourne to brainstorm on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis to Pakistani students in Australia. On 22 April, Dr Ahmed also spoke at an international virtual conference organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute of Pakistan on ‘Belt and Road Initiative as a health Silk Route’.  

Prof Fethi Mansouri spoke at a virtual meeting on 23 April as part of his participation in the Baku Process. The meeting was premised on these questions: how will the [COVID-19] crises affect relations among people and cultures? Are we heading towards aspiration for more effective cross-border and cross-cultural cooperation, or at the opposite, increasing distrust and mutual fear?
