IKE winner of Dreamtime Education Award for Educational Institute of the Year.

Congratulations – Institute of Koorie Education

We are delighted to advise that the Institute of Koorie Education (IKE) has won the prestigious Dreamtime Education Award for Educational Institute of the Year. The staff from IKE have been recognised for its excellent work in and commitment to student-centred learning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally safe, respectful and enabling environment.  

The Dreamtime Awards recognise the excellence, commitment and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across a range of categories, including the community engagement, education, sport, arts and entertainment sectors. 

 IKE was the winner of the National Education Institute of the Year Award which is ‘Awarded to an institution that has demonstrated a commitment to improving access and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.’

Nominations are from submissions from community with the winners selected via a national panel. Karinda Burns and Tyson Yunkaporta were in Sydney to receive the award on behalf of IKE on Saturday night.
