CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – CLOSES AUGUST 16th

SING Australia – Summer Internship for Indigenous Peoples in Genomics

  • 10-16 November 2019, Deakin University, Geelong

Would knowledge about genomics help you in your work or studies?

Genomics has applications in many fields that are important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians including health, law, heritage, environmental management and family reconnection services. Despite this, Indigenous people are currently underrepresented in this field. SING is a week-long workshop and mentoring program that covers technical and laboratory skills in genomics as well as theory, ethical and social implications of genomic research and the benefits and risks of genomics for Indigenous peoples. SING aims to develop and support the next generation of Indigenous researchers and professionals to ensure that Indigenous Australians can benefit from ethical and inclusive genomic research.

Applications are now open for fully-funded places supported by the Centre for Excellence in Australian Biodiversity and Heritage(CABAH). Indigenous applicants will be given priority, however non-indigenous people who work in fields relevant to Indigenous genomics are eligible to apply.
