Alfred Deakin Institute (ADI): Publications and Presentations

  • Professor John Powers was invited to meet with the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Human Rights in Parliament House on Thursday 6 December, and was interviewed by Tibet TV, along with several parliamentarians.
  • Professor Fethi Mansouri attended the UNESCO Expert Meeting from 5-6 December 2018, held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. He is part of an expert group on the project ‘Measuring Intercultural Dialogue: Strengthening data to enhance impact on the ground’. He presented on a current and ongoing research that is developing an Intercultural Dialogue (ICD) Index. This Index will measure both the conditions that enable intercultural dialogue to be mobilised effectively, and its impact on achieving key development and security objectives.On 7 December, Professor Mansouri was also part of an expert group working on a concept paper for the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue to be held in Baku in 2019.
  • Dr Daniella Trimboli was invited to speak about her work on migrant digital storytelling and online refugee advocacy at the Digital Publishing Symposium at The University of Melbourne on 27 November 2018.She joined Roj Amedi (Senior Human Rights & Racial Justice Campaigner, Colour Code & GetUP!), Jax Jacki Brown (LGBTQI Disability Rights Educator) and Dr Jennifer Beckett (Journalism, UniMelb) on the Digital Publishing and Activism Panel.

    She was also funded by the Faculty to attend the Digital Humanities Downunder conference in Sydney last week as part of her involvement in the Faculty’s new Big Data and Digital Research Committee.
