Have your say: What you need to know about the Experience Lab
The Experience Lab is a pop-up stand where library staff can gather feedback and insights from our users (you!) on key projects and initiatives. We set up a table and bright pink signage in a visible part of the library, and we offer free snacks in exchange for your thoughts and five minutes of your time.
The library strives to be user-led in the services and experiences we offer, and this is just one of the ways we do that.
We hold several Experience Labs each trimester across all our libraries! In fact, there are times planned for August 2024 at Burwood, Waurn Ponds and Waterfront. Come visit us at:
- Burwood: Tuesday 6 August, anytime between 11am–3pm
- Waurn Ponds: Tuesday 20 August, anytime between 10am–12pm
- Waterfront: Tuesday 20 August, anytime between 1–3pm
What can you expect?
The activities we run and the questions we ask at each Experience Lab are different. It all depends on our current projects. You may be asked to:
- give feedback on terminology
- choose your preferred design or layout of digital content
- tell us about your experience with a particular library service
- do simple activities like testing website navigation.
There’s never a right or wrong answer. We genuinely love to get feedback from students, researchers, academics and visitors. It’s how we can help deliver the best services and support.
What do we do with the results or feedback gathered?
Our findings from the Experience Lab are provided to our project teams for consideration. We also write a short report after each round, which is shared with library staff. These insights are housed in an online repository of user experience research, so your feedback can be considered in all future library projects and research as well. We never document personal or identifiable information.
What other ways can you participate?
Can’t make any of the August sessions? Check out the Experience Lab online to complete our current surveys and provide your feedback on library services and initiatives.
