MInD Lab and Imagine Intelligent Materials have established a research collaboration into how Ambient Intelligence can be generated using Imagine’s graphene-enabled Smart Surface technology in buildings.
The project aims to develop scalable commercial application frameworks of the technology in buildings; specifically in aged-care sector, but also in support of building operations management.
The project is jointly funded by the company and the Innovation Connections scheme of the Australian government. The new sensing floor technology is currently being trialled in Germany in office buildings, but the company sees the residential aged care market as one of the most important areas for early commercial impact.
Through this project MInD Lab will embed human-centred Design Thinking and System Thinking principles into the development of a new technology to bridge innovation across two key sectors: Advanced Manufacturing and the Built Environment.
