Three ways to de-stress after exams
You have made it to the end of exam week. As you wrap up your final assessments and projects, remember that the library is always here to help answer last-minute questions or find resources. Once you hit submit and send your hard work off to be assessed, we have some fun suggestions for how to de-stress and relax during the trimester break.
1. Watch something for fun
Did you know the library gives you access to stream hundreds of free movies and TV shows on Kanopy? Log in using your Deakin credentials to browse the huge range of comedies, dramas, documentaries and children’s movies, as well as award-winning films and television series.
Some recent additions include:
TV Series
- Nine Perfect Strangers
- Normal People
- Finding Alice
- War of the Worlds
Films
- Fall Guy
- The Reef
- Monkey Man
- Abigail
- One Love
2. Read a good book
If you’re looking for a book to get stuck into once all your required reading is done, the library has heaps of novels and interesting nonfiction for you to choose from! We made a list of some of our recent favourites if you want a suggestion.
3. Learn how to do nothing
What better way to chill out than to put your headphones on, sit back and listen to an audiobook about doing nothing? How to do nothing: Resisting the attention economy by Jenny Odell is a ‘love letter to all the things that Odell thinks are worth redirecting attention to — and for.’ (The Cut, 2019).
How to do nothing is an action plan for thinking outside of capitalist narratives of efficiency and techno-determinism. Provocative, timely, and utterly persuasive, this book is a four-course meal in the age of Soylent. Listen to the audiobook through your Deakin Library credentials on O’Reilly.
We hope these suggestions give you some new ideas for how to relax and unwind once you’re done with your exams and end-of-year assessments. Congratulations again on completing trimester 2!
