China visit FThe Head of School, Professor Anthony Mills, Associate Head of School Research, Dr Chunlu Liu and Associate Head of School International, Dr Mirjana Lozanovska, travelled to China from 28 March to 7 April 2016.

This visit built on established relationships with the institutions at Wuhan, especially Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST). Presentations at WUST and Wuhan Polytechnic generated discussion about the curricula, teaching exchange and articulation pathways, with potential in Bachelor of Design (Architecture), Master of Architecture, Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Construction Management. A long-term plan for Deakin a + b staff to develop teaching and curriculum workshops with WUST for intensive 3 week periods, and building a pathway for PhD candidates were discussed.

Deakin staff held workshops with Chinese Education Agents in Wuhan and Beijing, they met with staff at Tongji University in Shanghai and staff at Beijing University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (BUCEA) in an aim to develop new initiatives for Deakin in China.

The trip also provided a great opportunity to make contacted Deakin Alumni who are working in Shanghai; Sara Holbery from Red Studio and Wutao Zhang.
