At Deakin, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive, diverse and respectful community. Wherever you come from, however you identify, we welcome you.
Every member of the Deakin community has a role to play in living our values, including you. Here are the pillars of our culture and some ways that you can uphold Deakin’s values and contribute to our university culture in a positive way.
- Deakin recognises our LGBTIQ+ students and staff. If you identify as a member of this community or want to show your support as an ally, get involved with our LGBTIQ+ Community.
- Deakin’s Disability Resource Centre (DRC) promotes inclusion and access, providing information and services for students with a disability, or a health or mental health condition, that affects their study or participation in university life.
- At Deakin, our aim is to prevent sexual harm and to provide victim survivor-centred support to students and staff who have experienced sexual harm, regardless of where it happened, as well as to ensure alleged perpetrators are treated fairly. Our Safer Community team is here to support you if you need it.
The Student Code of Conduct and your Rights and Responsibilities outline the expectations we have of you and the core behaviours of cooperation, honesty and integrity. We believe in the power of small acts, and we trust you to demonstrate respectful behaviour on campus, online and out in the world. By displaying Deakin’s values in your everyday life, you are contributing to the University’s culture of integrity.
So, help us celebrate our diversity, embrace each other’s culture and origins, and work together towards a future of harmony and acceptance for all.
