How have you prepared for your studies? Deakin provides new students with two online orientation platforms, UniStart and Preparing to Succeed. They’re a great way to set yourself up for success.
UniStart is an orientation site designed to help you build your study skills. There are live sessions on topics such as referencing, writing at university at preparing for exams. These sessions are also recorded so you can watch them later.
UniStart is also full of written resources, tools and checklists, such as the ‘My First Trimester’ section which will ensure you’re ready to face the trimester head-on. The site also allows you to connect with student mentors and academic staff who can answer your questions about studying at university. You can also practice submitting your first assignment!
Preparing to Succeed
Preparing to Succeed is an online orientation site specifically for postgraduates. It’s offered through FutureLearn and will build your confidence by setting you up with the knowledge, skills and resources you’ll need to begin your postgraduate studies.
You might be returning to study after a long break, working either full-time or part-time, balancing your studies with other responsibilities or undertaking your studies online for the first time. Preparing to Succeed will help you return to study and then direct you to the relevant UniStart resources.
