Deakin Alumni Property Market Events

Panellists address the audience at the Geelong property event

In 2019, before COVID-19 put a hold on events worldwide, the Alumni Engagement Team was delighted to present a panel discussion on the property market at their Geelong and Melbourne campuses in collaboration with Community Bank at Deakin University (CBDU).

The response to the event was overwhelmingly positive, selling out in 24 hours with over 130 people attending at each location. Guests enjoyed breakfast and networking before sitting down for the presentation.

The quality of the panellists at this event was exceptional and included Tony Crabb, National Director of Research at Cushman and Wakefield, David Robertson Head of Economic and Market Research at Bendigo Bank, and Thomas Keel Associate Lecturer in the Department of Finance in Deakin Business School who captivated the audience with their insight and analysis.

Sam Johnstone, Manager of Faculty Alumni Engagement at Deakin said that ‘These sold-out events brought the alumni community together at an important time for the property market. It was great working with Community Bank Deakin University on this important initiative.’

These events also provided the opportunity to highlight Community Bank at Deakin University. CBDU is an important partnership between Deakin University and Bendigo Bank. This partnership provides discounted banking services to Deakin Alumni, staff and students with profits funnelled back to the University. These profits contribute to the provision of scholarships, internships, and funds for student societies.

On its first birthday in 2017, Community Bank at Deakin University made $50,000 available to the above initiatives. On the second birthday, a further $100,000 was made available, of which $80,000 is committed towards a Deakin University scholarship program.

This is all made possible by Deakin alumni, staff and students doing their banking with CBDU. You can help Deakin University to grow further by taking advantage of Community Bank at Deakin University’s complimentary financial reviews by visiting the hub at the Burwood campus and speaking to the team about the extensive suite of competitive Bendigo Bank banking products on offer.*
