DUSA Culture Fest Event
A collaboration between Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and Deakin University, Community Bank at Deakin University is Australia’s first university community bank which reinvests profits back into the Deakin community in the form of scholarships, research funding, support for student clubs and special projects dedicated to improving the student experience.
Culture Fest, held by the Deakin University Student Association (DUSA) in 2019 is just one of the ways Community Bank at Deakin University has been able to contribute to the Deakin community. Consisting of a talent show, food trucks and DUSA cultural clubs providing ethnic food, the Culture Fest celebrated the diversity of cultures that the students bring to Deakin University.
DUSA President, Emily Sagolj said that ‘It’s really great to know that Community Bank at Deakin University is there to support DUSA and our great clubs, they help make events a little more special, which ensure students have a fun time at uni outside of the classroom!’
This event helped students to feel welcomed at the university and allowed students to get exposure to different cultures and traditions. DUSA President, Sagolj explained that the event was a ‘great activation before the end of trimester’ and that Community Bank at Deakin University showed our ‘commitment to helping out students and celebrating the diversity of cultures at Deakin!’
