News – Awards and Prizes

 

Some of our Faculty of Business and Law HDR students were busy over the December – January period. Find out what Bo Yu and Amanjot Singh have been up to.

Here’s a highlight of recent achievements:

Bo Yu won the Best Applied Economics Paper at the 2019 PhD Students’ Academic Forum held at the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economis (WISE) conference, Xiamen University, China, 29-30 December 2019.   His paper was entitled Air Pollution Quotas and the Dynamics of Internal Skilled Migration in Chinese Cities. The conference received over 150 submissions, of which only 70 were selected to present. Bo is supervised by Shuddhasattwa Rafiq and Wang Sheng Lee, Department of Economics.

 

Amanjot Singh presented his paper – Why do US firms use more long-term debt post activist interventions? – at the PhD poster session for the the American Finance Association (AFA) meeting, San Diego, California, USA, 3 – 5 January 2020. The AFA is one of the world’s best and a highly competitive finance conferences, and this is the first time that anyone from the Finance department has enjoyed success at this level. Amanjot’s supervisors are Saikat Sovan Deb, Harminder Singh, Department of Finance.
