Calling PhDs – Industry Engagement Program 2019

‘PhD graduates, if provided with specialist training…have an enormous amount to offer industry…and therefore the nation’s economy.’ – Group of Eight (Go8) Universities Study, Australia (2017)

The PhD is a long and challenging journey. What will you be doing when it’s over?

Whether you are considering a post-PhD career in Academia, Industry or as an Entrepreneur you need to develop these skills!

Join our Industry Engagement Program and develop tomorrow’s essential and relevant skills.

Hone your creative craft, collaborate effectively and communicate confidently.

The program is presented by Dr Jon Hopwood of Social Agility and will run from the end of June to the end of July. There are very limited places so act now.

Come and find out more about the program at our Introductory session

Monday 27 May, 2.30 – 4.00 pm, Building LB, Room LB 3.323 (Elgar Road, Burwood Campus)

(The full program will run over a series of workshops in June-July with an industry pitch in mid July)

Why you should do it:

  • Work with a ‘top end of town’ consulting firm to solve a real problem
  • Practice building and then pitching ideas in a supportive environment and gain feedback on your current practice and skills
  • Build and improve these skills in three short, intensive experiential workshops
  • Pitch again (this time for real) with feedback from senior executives and academics
  • Collaborate across faculties to inform and improve your research
  • High-value prizes for the best work
  • Designed around you: low time commitment (20 hours total) and research-friendly schedule

Still not sure? This article helps to explain the value of engaging with industry as a PhD student
