Proud family celebrate new graduate

The family of Dr Xianan (Richard) Zhang travelled to celebrate with him at the graduation ceremony held on 14 December 2018 at 12pm.  Their pride and happiness for his success was clearly evident.

Dr Zhang’s PhD thesis was titled ‘The Role of Investor Sentiment in Stock Market’, supervised by Dr Xinwei Zheng in the Department of Finance.

At the same graduation ceremony, Professor Chien-Ting (Ed) Lin gave an entertaining and insightful occasional address which was extremely well received by the audience. Professor Lin is the Head of the Department of Finance and recounted his own PhD graduation in Texas almost 20 years ago, where the commencement address was given by George H. W. Bush, the former President of the United States of America who had passed away very recently.  Ed spoke about changes in career direction, the life-long process of learning, loyalty, the link between Britney Spears and the Banking Royal Commission – and much more!
