Important Information about parking on campus

Originally published on the Deakin Life blog on 16 Feb 2018.

The start of Trimester 1 is a very busy time on campus with thousands of new students commencing university. We recommend that you leave your car at home and explore alternative ways of getting to campus. You’ll avoid delays while trying to find a park and help us to reduce our emissions and environmental impact.

However, if you need to drive to uni, here’s some important information about parking.

Parking at Deakin

Parking is provided at all Deakin campuses, and there are a range of parking permits and payment options. Different permits apply in different areas, so please follow the signs.

You can either opt for a short-term parking permit, which can be purchased on a casual (hourly/daily) basis via CellOPark (a ‘pay-as-you-go’ mobile app). Or, you can purchase a long-term parking permit, called vPermit.

We recommend that you purchase your parking permit, or download CellOPark and create your account, before your first day on campus. Visit the parking website now to read more about your options and to purchase a permit.

There are limited free carparks at Waurn Ponds Campus (Car Park 20) and Warrnambool Campus (white general bays). Check out our campus maps for specific locations.

Changes to parking in Geelong

There have been recent changes to how you pay for parking at the Geelong Waterfront Campus. Parking permits are no longer available for the Waterfront Campus. Instead, you will need to pay the hourly or daily rate using CellOPark. Now, you’ll only pay for the times you’re successful in finding a park.

(Permits previously purchased in 2017 will still be valid until they expire.)

You can read more about the changes in our previous blog post.

Parking prices (from Monday 1 January 2018)

Student 120-day general permit (not valid at Waterfront) – $162.50 ($1.35 per day)

Student 365-day general permit (not valid at Waterfront) – $365 ($1 per day)

Casual hourly rates – $1.60 per hour

Casual daily rates – $6.40 per day

If you’ve got any questions or concerns, please get in touch with [email protected] or visit the parking website for more information and updates. Drive safely!
