Get connected and make friends

Did you know that most people come to uni looking to make new friends? Making friends and feeling connected at uni will not only make you feel happier, it may also help you succeed.

It’s important that you be active and participate in events, where possible. There are lots of ways to get involved at uni and in your local community. Deakin has a range of clubs and societies covering sport, culture, religion, study and just social. All you need to do is jump in and have fun!

As an HDR student, you may be interested in the Deakin University PhD Society (DUPhDs), which was formed solely for students to meet and socialise at regular events. Their next event is on Thursday 28 September at Mrs Robinson, with a dumpling dinner and gala planned for later in the year. If you’d like to join the Society or check out their coming events, simply visit their Facebook page.

Don’t forget about Deakin University Student Association’s clubs and societies. DUSA clubs include the Deakin University PhD Society, Deakin Graduate Business Society as well as sporting, cultural and other shared interest groups.

Well worth a look!
