This collection comprises the four winning pieces selected for the inaugural 2022 Deakin Postgraduate Prize for Writing. While these long form stories are each unique in voice, structure, and convention, they are held together by their core ideas: family dynamics, gender roles and stereotypes, and independence. Collectively, these stories showcase the strength and diversity of emerging writers from Deakin University. The writers are:
- Alison Turnbull – Her Plant Bits
- Suri Matondkar – Ladki Tales
- Anneliz Marie Erese – (Un)becoming
- Angela Osborne – Back to the Pub
