Paul Venzo’s Venetian Sonnets musical adaptation….

The Senior Lecturer in Writing and Literature Paul Venzo, was part of the team of creative arts students and researchers that undertook an extraordinary six-month international public art project in conjunction with the 58th Venice Biennale in 2019.

Working in six teams, one for each month of the Biennale, these 23 researchers and PhD candidates delivered a series of creative responses to a place-based provocation as part of the European Cultural Centre exhibition, Personal Structures. Working across assorted locations all over Venice, the artists documented their work in the famous Palazzo Bembo exhibition space. See here for a brief description of the project through Public Art Commission http://publicartcommission.com/project/venetian-blind

Paul has since worked on The Venetian Sonnets, a compilation of 15 representations of Venice. With the composer and accomplished pianist Karien Jordan, and resourced with some financing from Regional Arts Victoria, Paul presents himself and a small group of local artists from Warrnambool and Port Fairy.
