Jack Kirne

WLC JKirne webJack Kirne is a writer based in Melbourne, Australia. His work has appeared in various publications including Necessary Fiction, the Meanjin blog, Subbed In and the anthologies Growing up Queer in Australia and New Australian Fiction (KYD). He co-produces the podcast, Spooky Speaks! with his partner, Aaron Billings.

He completed a Ph.D at Deakin University in 2020. His research spans the disciplines of literary studies and creative writing and focuses on the intersections of cultural histories of climate change, environments, and geoengineering. His areas of expertise include literature and climate change, queer ecologies, and postcolonial texts and environments.  He is a visiting fellow for the Institute of Postcolonial Studies for 2021.
